The Class A seeds fell as predicted, with Fairport, R-H, Penfield and Pittsford all winning and the Class C did the same with Aquinas, Bloomfield-Honeoye, Penn Yan and Geneva all winning as well. R-H played a close game with Webster Schroeder and had a five goal streak in the last nine minutes for the 12-9 win.

Other winners included Greece Thunder, Penn Yan, Pal-Mac, McQuaid Jesuit, Eastridge, Geneva, Bloomfield-Honeoye and Livonia who edged out Haverling 7-6.

# 2059  Penn Yan: 2009 Preview

Penn Yan ended their league season third in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (10-7 overall). Seeded first in the Class C tournament, the Mustangs defeated Livonia 17-5 to become the Section Five Class C Champions. The Mustangs lost to Corning East (Section 4) in the second round of the state tournament 9-5. It was the eleventh consecutive Sectional title for Penn Yan.

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ.

# 210  Ohio Northern Picks up Lucas Blaszyk

Ohio Northern University picked up a second player from Section Five as Churchville-Chili senior attackman Lucas Blaszyk will join Newark defenseman Evan Corteville at the new NCAA Division III program. A three year Varsity player, Lucas ended his career with the Saints with 33g-13a and in his senior year had stat contributions in all seventeen games. An aggressive rider, Lucas had twenty-nine ground balls and recorded nine take aways in his senior year.
